Gli studenti si muovono

Dopo le varie dichiarazioni, smentite, risate pagliacciate ecc. ecc. mi sembra giusto cominciare a dare visibilita' a quello che stanno facendo gli studenti.
Soprattutto direi che dopo quello Cossiga (non un vecchietto qualunque ricordiamo) ma un ex presidente della Repubblica italiana ha dichiarato, mi sembra il caso di muoversi perche' il fondo e' stato toccato, raschiato e abbiamo fatto anche il buco per guardare cosa ci sia sotto.
Tutti si stanno muovendo e nel tempo si creera' una rete nazionale fin quando le cose non saranno cambiate.

L'altra faccia della religione

Un articolo molto interessante per ritornare a parlare di Religione e non di Chiesa.
Premetto che l'articolo non parla di Religione ma di una iniziativa di piccole comunità di Monaci, quelli che a volte dimentichiamo.
O meglio, non ci accorgiamo che esistono: loro la religione se la vivono come esperienza personale, nei loro spazi e tempi.

Ricordo che l'anno scorso in una libreria online italiana acquistai un testo universitario per preparare un esame. Attesi l'arrivo e la storia finì così: preparai l'esame senza quel libro dopo svariati solleciti telefonici e via e-mail. Poi il libro arrivò e ora vi posso dire che lo apro solo qualche volta, forse dopocena, prima di addormentarmi.

E, dopo aver letto la lettera di ******.com che mi rispedirà il libro, "mi sovvien il confronto e le troppe complicazioni e la burocrazia e 'l troppo creder nella diffidenza" che c'è oramai in Italia.

C'è diffidenza tra i ragazzi che si incontrano, si conoscono: continua ad esserci diffidenza. E c'è anche, a maggior ragione (ragione di chi non lo so), tra me che acquisto da una tastiera attraverso un sito internet italiano e l'impiegata che mi fa mille domande su come dove perchè cosa era quello che avevo ordinato.

Forse la lingua inglese è più immediata? Con ******.com tutto si è risolto, nel giro di poche e-mail tra me e le segratarie del customer service e tra poco avrò il mio libro.

Questo fatto mi ha portato a rifflettere su quanta diffidenza ci sia nel nostro Paese. Tra poco arriverà anche nei paesi, poi nei paesini? L'augurio è che rimanga solo una domanda che si disperda da qualche parte senza produrre strane eco.

La diffidenza porta alla burocrazia (la conseguenza di minor danno :) )
Per far ingranare un progetto ci serve la firma del Dott., Ing., Prof., Avv., quando va bene oppure tutte quelle messe insieme: sono mesi.
Questo vale dappertutto, dagli asili nido alle Università. Tutti cresciamo con questa burocrazia che sostituisce l'originaria stretta di mano tra Homini di parola.

Poco tempo fa su La7 guardavo una trasmissione sulla Stanford University. Mi ricordo solo una frase di uno studente (credo fosse un'italiano): "[...] qui, per far partire un progetto, basta una stretta di mano [...] ".

Pubblico la lettera che François ha spedito a Steve Ballmer per spiegargli che forse non ha capito le regole di un gioco.

Dear Steve,

Hi, this is François, from Mandriva.

I’m sure we are way too small for you to have heard of us. You know, we are one of these Linux company who is working hard to make its place in the market. We publish a Linux Distro, called Mandriva Linux. Mandriva Linux 2008, our last edition, has a pretty good review and we’re proud of it. You should try it, I’m sure you’d like it. We also happen to be one of the Linux companies that did not sign an agreement with your company (nobody’s perfect).

We recently closed a deal with the Nigerian Government. Maybe you heard about it, Steve. They were looking for an affordable hardware+software solution for their schools. The initial batch was 17,000 machines. We had a good deal to respond to their need: the Classmate PC from Intel, with a customized Mandriva Linux solution. We presented the solution to the local government, they liked the machine, they liked our system, they liked what we offered them, especially the fact that it was open, and that we could customize it for their country and so on.

Then, your people get in the game and the deal got more competitive. I would not say it got dirty, but someone could have said that. Your team fought and fought again the deal, but still the customer was happy with the CMPC and Mandriva.

We actually closed the deal, we took the order, we qualified the software, we got the machine shipped. To conclude, we did our job. And, the machine are being delivered right now.

Now, we hear a different story from the customer : “we shall pay for the Mandriva Software as agreed, but we shall replace it by Windows afterward.”

Wow! I’m impressed, Steve! What have you done to these guys to make them change their mind like this? It’s quite clear to me, and it will be to everyone. How do you call what you just did Steve? There is various names for it, I’m sure you know them.

Of course, I will keep fighting this one and the next one, and the next one. You have the money, the power, and maybe we have a different sense of ethics you and I, but I still believe that hard work, good technology and ethics can win too.
